The Guardian Award

The LETR Guardian Award recognizes one outstanding Special Olympics Accredited Torch Run Program that exemplifies the true meaning of the LETR mission and have responsibly guarded the Flame of hope and all it represents.

• Criteria: Nominated programs must a Torch Run program associated with an accredited Special Olympics program. The program should embrace their responsibilities as Guardians of the Flame, spread the LETR message, further awareness of the LETR mission and embrace athlete inclusion in all their efforts.
• Required Documents: Complete nomination form and 6-8 digital photos
• Approvals: Nominations must be submitted via the nominator’s LETR Executive Council Regional Coordinator. The knowledge and approval of the Special Olympics Program is also required.
• Nomination Period: Nominations are open through Friday, August 8, 2025 at 5 p.m. ET.
